Turning George Washington's Wallpaper into a Laser Cut Lantern
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.9 дней назад
Today I'm at the Makerspace laser cutting a lantern inspired by George Washington... more specifically the wallpaper from one of the guest bedrooms at Mount Vernon, his home. Hospitality was a big part of day to day life at Mount Vernon, especially after the American Revolution when Washington became a world figure. The property saw an almost constant flow of both dinner guests and overnight gu...

I've made a few laser cut handbags with living hinges and one thing I'd like to improve on is their durability. I'm laser cutting an old pair of jeans for this experiment, and using a whole bunch of mod podge. Thanks so much for watching and I hope you enjoy :) -Brooke Download Laser Cut Watermelon Handbag Files HERE: (coming soon) Get a discount at algolaser.com with our links... USE CODE: YTB...

This needs to be a ceiling fan
So I got two cookies, approx 35" x 3" and I set them up outside next to an area that blows HEAT like crazy. IT's got AIR between EACH piece and THEN a Black plastic cover to not only gather MORE heat but to keep them dry.
You had a laser cutter? You could have built the whole base by laminating ¼ layers of plywood..
For Sale The Wibbler ...now make it outta aluminium and add sum skateboard trucks ...with a Heal flip at the back lol
Really pretty! You and the project 💗
I want this as a purse! So cool 😎.
Ooo, wait I love that! Popping the snout on and off to get the stuff inside would be so funny
You would have fun with my collection of Popular Mechanics, Popular Science, and Science and Mechanics magazines from the mid-1930s to the 1960s! Every five years or so, I go down that rabbit hole, and once I start, I have a hard time putting them down.
I think I could use that with my patient to facilitate hip rotation. Maybe in the parallel bars
Yeah you really didn’t need all those supports
P.s. Great build by the way !👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Back then it was more like " You have choice ! Play with the Wibbler or Daddies shotgun " ! 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
I like your content! Need to swing by at some point and see the maker space! I live, like, 20 minutes away, lol.
No way! Hey neighbor :)
@@MakersWorkshopLLC why HI there🤣
Somebody who built one way back when: "Ya know, this thing would be a helluva lot more fun if it had wheels on it. Where's my old roller skates?"
Great project and well executed! We still have a Reader’s Digest Complete DIY Manual which had decorating and home repair techniques in one volume and projects in the other volume. It was from the early 1970’s and very comprehensive. The 70’s influence is off the scale… I see one on eBay for £150… hahaha! All the others are far less. Also, our copy is in way better condition that the one at £150.
I love this idea but man would it take a bit to make a finished one!
This is actually very lovely, not sure why the hate.
What do you mean "kinda"? That seems like a pretty big caveat and now I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight until I figure it out.
Ok laser cut. That's pretty cool!
It’s not the original wallpaper, and also I traced it and changed little details here and there on my version
My first thought was these would not last long. The 2 points of contact with the ground, lets call them "feet"...every time you twist to go forward or backwards your grinding the "feet" into rocks, concrete, asphalt. I would think only after a few minutes of use they would be ground up. Short of redesigning them with feet that add a stationary base and bearing to smooth out the twisting movement.
Did you hit a nail or something at 1:40 ? Sparks
You should spend more money on expensive tools
Looked like a lot of work to break your ankle
Definitely her fault.
Your dog looks like my dog, except yours has a wider racing-stripe down her nose. Does she shed like a demon? Could you knit up a new dog from the hair in the vacuum cleaning bag?.
Good job on your enslaver lamp
I think the feet on the original were round, from the diagram shown on screen.
Stick some Roller skate wheels on it and you've got a proto-skateboard?
Such a fun project!! 👍👍👍
We used to stand on these when we played with yard dart on our lawn. God, we do miss our sister.
I see/saw what you did there.
It takes practice, one of you will manage to hit her eventually.
I saw that title and I thought you were gluing loads of old magazines together to build something!!!
Shape the feet like rattle backs the if you lean the side it will rotate by falling onto the front outside quadrant of the foot that would be the only surface needs changing really
Super fun. Love the old toys.
Fr tho this is so underrated 😢😢
That’s!!! So cool!!!!! More people need to see this!!!
Thanks so much :)
Everything about this video is wonderful! The insteresting process of you making things with your laser accompanied by historical facts and good music!I like the effect of the laser engravings. I’ll subscribe if you make more things with your laser!
the lines look so sharp and clear, almost making the black parts appear raised as if they're 3d or something. looks great. i love that you can get all this going on without paint. i bet it smells good, too
I picked this up for engraving vork handles on vustom fishing rods I build. It does very well. Only downfall is theres no rotary tool out for it yet according to wainlux as of 6/26/24.
here's me and i saw the silvery bit and immediately thought R2D2 :) I bet this looks awesome!
Someone was hoping to match the hula hoop phenomenon and failed. They should have put skate wheels on it and cashed in big.
Can please reply big fan ❤❤❤
Of course! Hi 👋 👋👋 thanks so much for watching :)
What the hell is the point? You laminated them to a board and cut something. What?
It’s a handbag, just hasn’t been folded up yet :)
I love how old toys were extremely dangerous. "It's okay if she breaks her ankle. It'll build character."
I have a T- shirt that reads "I AM A WOODEN SPOON, LEAD PAINT, NO CAR SEAT, NO SEAT BELT, NO BIKE HELMET, PICKUP BED RIDING, GARDEN HOSE DRINKING SURVIVOR " Them wuz the days! 😊
@@T-bone1950 The trick with the garden hose, of course, was not to drink until you saw the bubble of air pop out.
at 13 I was driving an old Voxhaul Victor car around the disused open cast coal mine at th back of my house - we kicked the windows out for "safety" I had to drive the wrong way up a dual carriageway to get there - waving at the neighbours as I went -- no one cared. 3 times this year people have called the police on my sister 16 year old for sitting on a bench listening to music on his ear buds - each time its old people who have moved to the village for their retirement.
@@piccalillipit9211 Are you serious ? One boy, sitting by himself ?. That is crazy, where was that, in the UK somewhere obviously because of the classic you were driving.
@@uncletiggermclaren7592 Yeah that was 1983 at Woodkirk near Dewsbury - I lived next door to Woodkirk garage and I had to get along the dual carriageway to Quarry Lane, so it was about 1/3rd of a mile the wrong way up the road OR about 2 miles going the right way. I grew up driving the rear wheel drive car around the quarries so I have never not been able to drift a car, which became a big problem when I came to do my driving test. I was a very good rally driver but an absolutely TERRIBLE high way code driver, took me 2 years and 3 goes to pass my test LOL.
Turned out great. Love the design - I wonder what George would think of the flying pig?
See, I personally think he’d love it bc Ham has long been an iconic product of Virginia. Served very often at Mount Vernon. Bacon too.
Really fun interpretation!
Thanks Dave ☺️
I was thinking the same thing as @SAstonfamily but instead of putting it under a glass thing, I think you should see it in resin and turn it into a coffee table
You are a fantastic team!
Great idea to transform images on lanterns. Thanks!
Cool idea. George Washington would be proud. : )
Thanks!
Frog tape needs to sponsor you! I love your inspiration for this. You have a great eye for design!
I love frog tape! It’s the best stuff for this kind of thing
this is really cool! three days on the vector - epic.. the flying pig and tossing the wood on the laser were great touches =) its really refreshing to see someone do something pro-american. all i ever see is usa hate =(
so fun! the wallpaper is such a smart inspiration to pull from
